DIY Barn Door

Hello everyone! I am back with the last bedroom blog post. This was the last project Caroline did in her bedroom hallway.

Originally, this space had a pocket door that was robin eggs blue. We did not like the color of this door and did not like a pocket door leading into a bathroom. Do not get me wrong, we love pocket doors and the charm that they have. This was just not the space for one. Caroline also drilled a hole into the door during the closet renovation. All of these reasons caused us to create a beautiful barn door for this space.

Caroline loved the barn door that @makingprettyspaces did. She wanted to take that barn door and put her own spin on it.

Making Pretty Spaces DIY Barn Door

To make the door, Caroline attached 1X4 boards to create the frame and for the trim pieces. Caroline then added extra support to the middle portion of the door. She then attached the fluted pieces to the door. She then filled the nail holes, sanded and caulked the door. Lastly, she painted and primed the door. Check out the video below to check out the entire process of creating these doors.

At the end of this project, we attached the barn door using barn door hardware. Then we added matching black hardware to the door. Below I am going to post the final pictures of this barn door project.

Didn't this project turn out great? Do you think we got close to the barn doors we were inspired by?
